DTN Closing Grain Comments 09/09 13:48
Row Crops Continue Mild Correction From Early September Highs
Crop futures were lower for the most part on Wednesday, in a rather dull
trade ahead of fresh USDA estimates due out on Friday. Overall, the bullish
pillars to the late summer rally remain in place, with lower U.S. production
expectations as harvest gets underway and the situation in the Black Sea still
shows no clear path to resolution despite recent attempts to spur negotiations
between Russia and Ukraine. Meanwhile, energy futures continue to rise higher,
with West Texas Intermediate futures at over three-month highs. The war in the
Middle East took a drastic turn toward escalation this week, with the U.S.
striking five Iranian oil tankers and Iran retaliating with strikes of their
own on ships in the region.
